Our Covenant
We, the members of Montclair Early Music, agree to work together to accomplish our mission with the following assumptions, behaviors and commitments:
- We will welcome newcomers, make them feel comfortable.
- We acknowledge that we vary in our skills, knowledge, abilities and personal circumstances. We believe that each of us has something of value to contribute to the group, but that our contributions will differ. We will treat one another with respect and helpfulness.
- We will actively listen to others’ opinions on playing the music, using "I" statements. We will refrain from sidebar conversations and interrupting when others are speaking. We strive to use consensus as the preferred process of decision making.
- We agree to demonstrate our commitment to the mission of the group by taking responsibility for sharing tasks by joining committees, supporting committee decisions and respecting the agenda and timeline for meetings and commitments.
- All this will be done in the context of fostering creativity, friendship, community, mutual learning, fun, fairness, joy and making wonderful music.
