Celebrating Black History Month Through Music

Sunday, February 26, 2023, 3 pm
Montclair Public Library
50 S Fullerton Ave, Montclair

Free.

Join us as we celebrate black history month with music from African American composers such as Beesley Smith, William Grant Still and Basile Jean Bares (the slave composer). Voices and Instruments – including recorders, guitars and drums – will lift up little-known and familiar music from the 19th and 20th centuries. With songs such as Juba Dance and Swing Lo, Sweet Chariot we will make joyful noise in true jubilee style.

If you missed our George Washington's Music concert on September 17, 2022, you can view selections on MEM's YouTube channel. Please subscribe!
