Recorder Challenge for Young Players
Following the positive response of the past two years, Montclair Early Music will again be offering

six weeks of free/low-cost recorder lessons beginning May 1. This program is available to elementary school students in Essex County. The program will most likely start via Zoom, and when restrictions are lifted, they will meet in person in Montclair.

The application fee for the program is $49;  the fee is waived for low-income families. The program will culminate with the students performing in concert alongside the adult members of Montclair Early Music.

If you are interested in this opportunity, send an email to info@montclairearlymusic.org.

We are musicians who love to play Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music, and occasionally more modern music. Our main instruments are recorders. The music is similar to choral music with soprano, alto, tenor, and bass lines, thereby making it easy to form a consort. We offer classes for beginners.

We welcome singers and players of other period instruments such as viola da gamba, cornetto, sackbut, crumhorn, lute, harp, and guitar to join us.
