Jubilee 2024 Guest Artist: Heather Bennett

Montclair Early Music is happy to announce that Heather Bennet will be joining our Jubilee concert. She will be accompanying Tenor Soloist Jeremy Watson for a very special performance during our February 10 fundraising concert!


Ms. Bennet is a Jazz pianist, vocalist, and composer and experienced musician, educator and music director. Her last release was in 2018 featuring voice for the first time with the track, "Lazy Afternoon” (Summit Records). Since then she has been recording various original Gospel tracks, released independently on various platforms.


Ms. Bennett began her performing career in Austin, TX where she produced two instrumental CD’s of her original material.  In 1997 she made the move to NYC where she produced three more original jazz recordings for Apria Records. She had the opportunity in NYC to study extensively with Richie Beirach and then later with Sal Mosca. In addition to her private teaching, Heather has worked as a teaching artist in the NYC schools for over 20 years, while also enjoying many performing and recording opportunities. She has worked extensively as a music director in off-Broadway shows and at various churches of different faiths since 1999. 


She is currently organist and music director at Presbyterian Church of Teaneck since 2014. Ms. Bennett recently has led vocal jam sessions in Teaneck, NJ’s new jazz venue, Brush Culture.


She has performed and/or recorded with jazz greats such as: Billy Hart, Rufus Reid, Dennis Irwin, Dave Pietro, Ada Rovatti, Greg Tardy, Rick Margitza, Joe Cohn, Daniel Carter, Ratzo Harris, George Schuller, Ari Hoenig. Mike Pope, Tim Horner, Bill Mobley, Pete McCann, Donny McCaslin, and Mike Richmond among others.
